One day is fine. If you end up staying longer, a phone call or an email to customer service is all it takes to extend the rental, no notice required.

As a rule, order today and we deliver tomorrow. Same-day delivery is possible, but not through the website: call us on +39 06.929.393.43, Mon–Fri 9am–1pm and 2pm–6pm, or send us an email. We arrange the time with the property where you’re staying.

Book now

We bring the mobility aid to wherever you’re sleeping and come back for it when the rental ends. You let the property know when you book, then we contact them to set up the delivery. At hotels with a 24-hour reception we can generally deliver and collect even when you’re not there: where possible, the aid arrives the day before you do and we pick it up the day after you leave. In a B&B or an apartment it’s the host who lets us in, so you give them a heads-up and we call them to agree on a time. One thing to check beforehand if you’re renting a 4-wheel scooter or an electric wheelchair: the property needs a suitable elevator, doors that are wide enough and no barriers at the entrance.

  1. When you book, you let the property know about the delivery.
  2. We contact the property to set the day and time.
  3. Where possible, the aid arrives the day before you do; we collect it the day after you leave.

Everywhere in the center, Colosseum and Vatican included. We’re permitted to drive in the restricted traffic zones (ZTL), so we get to the historic center, Trastevere, Prati and the Borgo district next to the Vatican; the ZTL adds nothing to the cost. We cover Rome and the whole province. What we don’t do is deliver on the street: we hand over inside your accommodation, so if you’re staying near the Colosseum the aid comes to your hotel or apartment, not to the monument itself.

Of course. You can collect it from our office at Via Treglio 5, 00132 Roma, or from one of the luggage storage points we partner with.

Yes, they’re charged separately. The cost depends on the area and starts at €30; the restricted traffic zone (ZTL) makes no difference. If a delivery fails on the first attempt, each further attempt costs €18 and takes place from the first available working day onwards. Saturdays carry a surcharge, and for Sundays and public holidays see the answer just below.

Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays carry a surcharge: on Saturdays it’s €46 for each delivery or collection, even if only one of the two falls on a Saturday. To spare you the charge, where and when possible we deliver on the previous working day and collect on the following one, at no extra cost, Saturdays included. In that case the rental days count from the delivery date confirmed in your order. You’ll find the list of public holidays on our public holidays in Rome page.

Cancellation is free up to 5 days (120 hours) before delivery. Any closer than that, the full amount is charged and is non-refundable; the same 5-day rule applies if you want to switch to a different model. Changing the address costs nothing, as long as the delivery hasn’t already taken place. If you order less than 5 days before delivery, be aware that there’s no refund when the delivery falls through because of the property: the host isn’t there, we can’t get in, the property isn’t suitable, or changes weren’t passed on to us in time.

If you arrive the next day we can move the booking, subject to availability. The lost day can’t be recovered, but as long as the number of days stays the same you pay no surcharge. At a hotel with a 24-hour reception the problem hardly arises, because as a rule we deliver even if you haven’t arrived yet. If you’re staying in an apartment with a host, let us know in good time so we can rearrange the time with whoever is letting us in.

In advance, within 2 days of ordering, by bank transfer, PayPal, credit card or debit card. Paying on delivery isn’t possible at the moment. If payment doesn’t come through in time and we don’t hear from you, the order is canceled: if something gets in the way, tell us before the deadline.

It depends on the mobility aid. For wheelchairs and folding walkers the deposit is €19 or €39; for mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs it ranges from €140 to €280, and you can replace it with accidental damage insurance. Beds, patient lifts and basic walkers don’t require one. When you order, you choose between the deposit and Easy Travel coverage, which includes the key, punctures and scuffs to the plastic parts. The deposit comes back to you within 7 days of the end of the rental, once the aid has had its technical check.

A valid ID card or passport is all you need. After booking you’ll get an automatic email: from there you upload the document and confirm that you’ve told the property about the delivery.

Call customer service straight away. In the event of a technical fault we come out to repair the aid or replace it with an equivalent model, or with an alternative if that one isn’t available. Assistance is only available within the Municipality of Rome and the call-out may not happen until the next working day; if the aid has been taken off-site, the call-out costs €35. The repair is at your expense if the fault is down to misuse or tampering.

In Italy, renting mobility aids is tax-deductible. To receive an invoice, just enter your codice fiscale (Italian tax code) at checkout.

What our customers say

Translation: The service was excellent. Since I was coming to Rome from abroad, I had booked the wheelchair rental online. The wheelchair was delivered to the hotel without any problems the day before my arrival, and the hotel (Domus Rome Hotel) sent me an email the same day to let me know it had been received.

Choosing your mobility aid and getting around Rome

You don’t need to know the models: our guide to the best mobility aid for Rome takes you to the right one. If you need to get the person out of the chair without lifting them, there are wheelchairs with flip-up armrests.

Find the right mobility aid

They do: seat widths vary, and to get the right one you just give us the person’s height and weight when you order. A medium wheelchair, suited to someone 1.75 m (5 ft 9 in) tall weighing 80 kg (176 lb), is roughly 70 cm (about 28 in) wide at most; if the doors or the elevator at your accommodation are narrower, there’s a narrow model. Four-wheel scooters and electric wheelchairs take up more room: before booking, check the elevator, the doors and any barriers at the entrance.

We cover it place by place in our information pages. Start with our wheelchair-accessible Rome guide; the Colosseum and the Vatican Museums each have a page of their own.

You’ll find them in our accessible accommodation in Rome directory: 617 listings of verified properties. If you’ve already booked somewhere else and you’re coming with a scooter or an electric wheelchair, check the elevator, the width of the doors and any barriers at the entrance; a 24-hour reception makes delivery and collection simpler.

What our customers say
Scooter was amazing! Made it possible for me to see parts of Italy I would have otherwise missed out on due to my mobility challenges. Ordering was easy and delivery was on time. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Only suggestion I would make is rent the smaller travel version so it can go taxis.

Accessible transfer

From Fiumicino and Ciampino airports, the port of Civitavecchia and Termini, Tiburtina and Ostiense stations to your hotel or apartment in Rome and the Vatican, and back again when you leave. The service runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. At Civitavecchia we come right up to the ship, and from the port we take you to Rome or to the airport, there and back even in a single day, groups included. At the stations the driver helps you load and unload the wheelchair.

Book the transfer

Fares start at €60 per person. The price is fixed: we agree on it when you book, and it includes taxes, tolls and waiting time at the airport. On top of that come the surcharges for night-time trips, Sundays and public holidays, a driver who speaks your language and additional luggage: you’ll find them on the transfer page and, in full, in the rental conditions.

Yes. We track the flight, so the transfer is guaranteed even if you’re delayed, at no extra cost. We do need the correct flight number, though, or the pier number if you’re arriving by ship: with the wrong details, the transport operator can’t be held responsible. You’ll spot the driver by the sign they hold up to greet you in the arrivals area; their name and phone number reach you 24-48 hours beforehand, and the voucher to show them arrives right after you book. Standard waiting time is 60 minutes at the airport and 30 minutes elsewhere: after that the driver may leave the meeting point, so if you’re running late or can’t find them, call the number we gave you.

You board in your own wheelchair, manual or electric, or on your scooter: carrying your mobility aids is included, as is one bag per person (€3 for each extra piece). The vehicles have an electro-hydraulic lift or certified ramps, air conditioning and room for every type of wheelchair. A vehicle takes up to 8 passengers and 6 wheelchairs, although for a comfortable ride we recommend no more than 4 wheelchairs. Tell us about your aid when you book: an undeclared one that compromises safety may be refused.

Yes, if you book the transfer and the rental together: the driver hands you the aid when you arrive. Without the transfer, the aid goes to your accommodation, because we don’t deliver on the street.

Add transfer to your rental

You can, with different rules depending on the season. In high season, from May 1 to September 30, cancel more than 20 days ahead and you get a refund; between 20 and 10 days ahead the penalty is 50%, and at 9 days or fewer it’s 100%. In low season, cancellation is free up to 5 days before. Refunds come net of processing fees, roughly 3-5%. The 14-day right of withdrawal doesn’t apply, because the service has a fixed date.

Not all of them, and the adapted ones have to be requested in advance. Our transfer solves the problem: the vehicle with the lift is booked ahead of time and the driver is waiting for you when you arrive.

No: inside airports and stations we don’t provide direct assistance to passengers with disabilities. For that stretch, turn to the airport’s or the station’s own assistance service. Our driver meets you in the arrivals area with a sign and, at the station, helps you load and unload the wheelchair.

We do: Pompeii, Florence, the Amalfi Coast, Assisi, all with adapted vehicles. They’re tailor-made tours, multi-day ones included, so write to us with where you’d like to go and for how long.
