Which to choose
Transit or self-propelled?
The self-propelled model has large rear wheels: the user can move around independently. The transit model has small wheels, is lighter and more compact: ideal when a companion does the pushing.
Tight spaces and elevators
For historic-center apartments, small doorways and elevators, the narrow-passage wheelchair (40–43 cm) fits where others can't.
High weight capacity
The bariatric model supports up to 140 kg with a seat of 60 cm or more, for maximum comfort and safety.
When electric makes sense

Frequently asked questions
How much does rental in Rome cost?
A manual wheelchair, transit or self-propelled, costs €48 for up to 5 days, €60 for up to 15 and €82 for up to 30. Beyond a month it goes to €2,75 per day. The wheelchair for tight spaces and the pediatric one cost €92 a month, the bariatric €110. Prices include VAT; home delivery and collection are added at booking.
How and when do you pay?
To secure availability, payment must be made in advance within 2 days of ordering, by bank transfer, PayPal or credit/debit card. Where available, payment on delivery can be arranged.
Do you deliver the wheelchair to a hotel or B&B?
Yes. Let the property know about the delivery in your name: we'll then take care of arranging the appointment. At hotels with 24-hour reception we deliver, where possible, the day before your arrival and collect after your departure, even in your absence. At B&Bs and apartments, the host must be present to allow access.
How does cancellation work?
Cancellation is free up to 5 days (120 hours) before delivery. After this deadline, the full amount is charged. Last-minute orders (within 5 days) are non-refundable if the service cannot be provided due to logistical reasons beyond our control.
Is a security deposit required?
For this type of aid, the rental does not require any security deposit.
Do you work with intermediaries?
No: VEM handles every order directly with its own staff, with no brokers or intermediaries. From booking to delivery, you always deal with us.
Where do I pick it up? Do you have a location near me?
You don't have to go anywhere: we bring the wheelchair to where you're staying, anywhere in Rome and its province, and we collect it when you're done. If you prefer, you can come and pick it up at our office, with no delivery charge.
Can I rent a wheelchair from a pharmacy?
Some pharmacies keep a few models, but you usually have to go there to collect it and bring it back, and the choice is limited. We deliver to where you are, we have six different models, and support is included for the whole rental period.
Do you also rent a commode chair?
Yes. The shower and toilet commode chair has wheels and a removable pan, from €30 for two days. It's useful after surgery or when the bathroom isn't accessible.
