The Monument

The Pantheon wheelchair accessible Rome experience begins at one of the ancient world’s greatest surviving structures. Built between 118–125 AD as a temple to all the gods and today known as the Basilica of Santa Maria ad Martyres, the Pantheon is the best-preserved ancient building in Rome: its dome with the iconic central oculus remains the largest unreinforced concrete dome ever constructed.

Free admission for visitors with disabilities and one companion (also valid with the Disability Card), plus free entry for everyone on the first Sunday of each month.
Fully level interior: this is one of the most wheelchair-friendly monuments in the city, no steps, fully navigable for wheelchair users throughout.
Accessible entrance: a dedicated accessible ramp is available on the Via della Minerva side of the building.
Lines at the entrance are possible; tourist access may be suspended during religious services.

Which aid we recommend for this visit

A flat interior with no steps: a standard manual wheelchair is perfectly fine for the Pantheon. Just watch out for the cobblestones of the surrounding city-centre streets.

Accessible Directions

From Termini Station: take bus 40 or 64 to Largo di Torre Argentina, then approximately a 5-minute roll/walk through the pedestrian center. This is the route most travelers with mobility needs rely on.

From Fiumicino / Ciampino Airport: connect to Termini, then take the bus as above; a door-to-door accessible transfer is also available for added convenience.

From Civitavecchia (Cruise Port): take the train into Rome and connect to the bus, or arrange a direct accessible transfer to the city center.
