Pantheon Wheelchair Accessible Rome: Visitor Guide

Where you go in

Visitors with a disability or reduced mobility go in from the external ramp on the Via della Minerva side, a gate separate from the main entrance. The official page says so in both language versions, and the Ministry of Culture’s listing, updated on 1 September 2026, calls that gate the disabled ramp. Staff on duty are on that side, next to the ramp. Inside, the Rotonda is on the ground floor. Its marble floor has been under restoration since November 2023 for lesions, gaps and fractures, work meant to restore correct flatness, and no source says how far it has got.

What no official source states

Nobody publishes the ramp’s gradient or width, or the level difference between the square and the threshold. No official source says whether the Pantheon has toilets at all, accessible or otherwise. No official source describes the surface of the last stretch across Piazza della Rotonda; the word cobblestones comes from newspapers. None says whether the ramp is staffed at every hour, or whether you should announce yourself or book ahead. And none gives a duration for an ordinary visit.

Tickets and free admission

Admission is 7.00 euros, or 2.00 for European Union citizens aged 18 to 25, so a non-EU visitor of that age pays full price; under-18s go free. A visitor with a disability is free with one family member, or with another companion belonging to a social or health assistance service, under DM 507/1997: show a document certifying the condition at the ticket office, or pick the free ticket type on the Musei Italiani portal. The ticket is personal: at the entrance you show it with an identity document, or you can be refused with no refund. Roma Pass and Omnia Card are not valid here.

Queues and time slots

There are no skip-the-line tickets. Access runs by booked time slot and, within the slot, in order of arrival. No official source describes a priority lane for disabled visitors: you come in through a separate gate, but nobody publishes the wait there. On free-admission days the free ticket gives no priority and must be collected on site.

Hours, Mass and the dress code

Open daily 9:00 to 19:00, last entry 18:30, ticket offices closed at 18:00; shut on 25 December and 1 January. The Pantheon is a working basilica, Santa Maria ad Martyres, and hours change for religious celebrations: during them, including Mass at 17:00 on Saturday and 10:30 on Sunday, entry is free but reserved for those attending. The dress code asks for covered shoulders and nothing transparent or too short, and staff enforce it. There is no cloakroom. Guide dogs and support animals certified for a documented medical need are admitted; no other animals.

The lift serves a different route

There is a lift, but not in the Rotonda. The only documented one belongs to Oltre il Pantheon, the paid accompanied route through the Basilica di Nettuno, 45 minutes, with a dedicated access into the Rotonda. The price shown is 10.00 euros, with no reductions and no free admission for disability, only for under-18s. Where that entrance is, and whether it is reachable from the street without steps, nobody documents. The page describing it was last updated on 25 November 2025 and lists prices since superseded, so call first.

Getting there: bus, not metro

Barberini, the nearest metro station, is not accessible: ATAC lists it among the four line A stations with no lifts or stairlifts to the platforms. Buses work: every ATAC bus has a fold-out ramp and a wheelchair space, though ATAC advises checking the equipment is in service before you travel. By car, a disabled parking badge allows ZTL access with the holder on board, for up to two vehicles, plus reserved bays, free parking on blue lines and access to pedestrian areas, subject to further restrictions.
