The monument

Castel Sant'Angelo, originally Hadrian's Mausoleum (139 AD) and later a fortress and papal residence, is connected to the Vatican by the Passetto di Borgo. From the terrace, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Rome.

Accessibility and concessions

Free entry for the disabled person and their companion (certification at the ticket office).
Lift which allows you to reach the panoramic terrace at the top.
Dedicated entrance for visitors with disabilities at Lungotevere Castello 50.
The courtyard and gardens are on two levels, connected by ramps, accessible only with a companion. Restrooms are accessible only with a companion. Some historic routes remain only partially accessible.

What aid do we recommend for this visit?

There is an elevator to the terrace, but courtyards and historic ramps require assistance: a wheelchair with an attendant is recommended.

From Termini — Metro line A to “Lepanto”, then ~10 minutes on foot; or take a bus along the Lungotevere

From Fiumicino / Ciampino — connection to Termini, then Metro A; alternatively, a door-to-door transfer.

From Civitavecchia (cruises) — train to Rome and Metro, or direct transfer.
